Karl “Drew” Craven
Karl was born and raised in the UK but married an American and moved to North Carolina in 2006. Karl has had a lifelong interest in graphic design, though he also studied media production and photography before passing his BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art & Design at Herefordshire College of Art & Design in 1999. He then studied Three-Dimensional Design at Leeds Metropolitan University, graduating with a Diploma of Higher Education in 2002.
After college, Karl worked at a community education center in his home town while freelancing as a graphic designer. He volunteered as a graphic designer and layout editor with The South Wye News (a local community newspaper) for three years and, in 2005, Karl and his fellow volunteers received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service for their efforts.
Since 2007, Karl has been employed as a prospect researcher by the fund-raising division of UNCW. Apart from his work with the Cape Fear Corpsers group, which he and Rachel Kastner founded in 2010, Karl has been working with his wife, Victoria, on a webcomic called ‘A Common Language‘.
Karl really doesn’t have an artist’s statement but feel free to generate one on his behalf, here.
